History/Background

Owner Chris Teahen, began the business in 1994, from a small back yard shed of his childhood home in Stratford Ontario, under the name of ‘Teahen Carpentry and Woodworking’. After completing his initial post secondary trades degree at Conestoga College and some time building the business, Chris went on to complete another degree, this time in Construction Management at Algonquin College. Though his beginnings were modest, his passion for quality, 'standing out' in his trade and his integrity was strong, even at a young age. Chris went on to found "Tymber Tykes" making childrens picnic tables and the like for local schools. Later, he continued to do this as a donation to local schools and not as part of his paid work. Chris and wife Courtney, high school sweethearts, returned from their post secondary time in Ottawa back to Stratford in 1998 and married in 1999.

From the onset, customers gave unsolicited testimonial commendation both on the quality of work and his commitment to their job as if they “were his only priority”. Most importantly, the feedback was strong on the quality of the people working for the Teahen team. These types of verbatim statements continue to come in to this day. By 2000, Chris grew and changed the name of the business to Teahen Construction Ltd. after continued growth of the team, customer base and specialized project requests. In 2007, he added Teahen Plumbing to the team, allowing the concept of ‘team’ to come to life through exemplary communication.  Seamless end to end project management, further competitive costing for customers and “big picture” quality remains paramount. In 2012, Teahen Construction Ltd welcomed even more diversity to their team to help with completing any project. They understand it can be overwhelming when faced with so many choices and now have a team to help ensure a smooth and positive experience was possible.

Courtney Teahen, Director Admin Operations and Community Affairs at Teahen, joined in 2013 after 15 yrs in her corporate career. Past President of the Perth Huron Builders Association (PHBA) she continues as an Executive on their Board as Education Director. She gives her time back to the community, through volunteer and charity partnerships. She is a Career Coach with Ontario Career Labs under the Ministry of Education assisting youth as a mentor in career counciling.  Completing her University Degree in Law and Business Management she developed through her career within a Canadian Montreal based Corporation within the management ranks including; Customer Service, Sales, Communications Training, Feild Operations, Human Resources, Work Force Management, Project Management and Consulting. In 2015, Courtney took over all phylanthropic and community matters for Teahen Construction Ltd. "We have always wanted to put structure on how and where that we give back to the community that we work and live and focus on the next generation in needing assistance. It is a priority of ours, I coorindate and manage requests and needs in addition to Teahen admin operations and HR." 

Although Teahen had built beautiful kitchens and bathrooms for yrs prior, in 2018 Teahen Construction Ltd. built a custom cabinetry and millwork shop. Teahen Kitchens and Cabinetry (TKC) was officially launched in this state of art cabinetry shop with business partner Steve Basisto (2024). Steve is not only partner and owner in TKC but he is a Cabinet maker by trade and the General Manager of Teahen Construction & Plumbing Ltd.

With expert skilled cabinetry trades people working TKC, that team create and execute any project a client can dream of from a kitchen table through to the most complex kitchen cabinetry. Specializing in custom kitchens, beautiful bathrooms, custom cabinetry and fine millwork touches taking home building and renos to a superior level. @teahenkitchenandcabinetry clients can be involved as much or as little as they wish in the building their dream kitchen or bathroom, from drawings through production and completion.  
 

In conjunction with their new shop, Teahen Homes was born. Being Tarion approved, their home development in St Mary's Ontario and Stratford On, their homes range from plan ready single family dwelling SFD to custom and townhome builds as well.

The Teahen Construction team is passionate about continuous growth and improvement in their skills and the products and spaces they create.  Teahen Construction Ltd. head office and shop are located in Stratford at 201 Griffith Road. Although its look is from his beginnings, the character and foundation of where it all began remains firm in all divisions;
